Kissing Ball

Paper Flowers! There are so many possibilities! Yesterday I spent all day making paper flowers, I lost count after 60! I went back and forth over what to do, then I decided on a Kissing Ball for Valentine's Day.



I cut the flowers using the Art Philosophy cartridge at 3.5 inches. The paper is "Lucy" from Close To My Heart. It's double sided paper, so when I was making the flowers, I reversed every other one. If you look closely you will see the difference; some flowers have the white "flower pattern" on the inside, some have the pink patern on the inside. I thought it gave it the project more interest.




Lucy is definitely one of my favorite of the new CTMH papers this year. Here's a better look at the paper:



Tools used for this project:

5 1/2" styrofoam ball
Hot glue gun
CTMH paper - Lucy
CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge
ribbon

    Oh wow! This is just stunning! I cut several of those same flowers yesterday and just couldn't seem to get them to finish right. Did you start from the outside and twirl in to the large piece? That's what I did and I couldn't figure out what to do once I got it to that point. I'm sure I'm missing something and I'm hoping that after 60+ flowers you might have a tip or two for me :)

      After rolling about 27 by hand, I went out and got the tool for quilling, which made it a lot easier. Yes, start from the outside and work your way to the middle, keeping it tight. Once you get to the middle, release and then work with it a little, then out hot glue on the "middle" part and press the flower down. You have a second or two to "play" with it to get it right. Some come out better than others, some smaller, some bigger. It does take practice - just use scrap paper to practice on, because I figured I used about 9 - 10 sheets to make this one, at 9 per sheet! Let me know how it works out for you.

    Thanks so much! I'm going to keep trying ... I want a Kissing Ball just like yours :) Do you put the glue on that large piece that's left at the end?

      I put it in the middle of the round piece on the end and try and get all of the paper that I rolled pressed down - if that makes sense. I can't wait to see how yours comes out! Good luck!
