Provo Craft Contest Entries

These were my entries for the PC E2 contest. Not winners, but I enjoyed making them and had a lot of fun!

The first is my Cosmo Girl layout. It is supposed to be a magazine cover. I used Base Camp for the lettering, Celebrate With A Flourish for the balloons, Give A Hoot for the butterflies, and Mother's Day Bouquet for the flowers.



I added some Viva Decor pearls to the middle of the flowers and some buttons on opposite corners. I did use my computer to print out the "story headlines" on gray Bazzill cardstock.

My second layout was all done with Paper Studio Birthday Extravaganza paper and mat stack paper! I saw this paper quite a bit on several other entries! I really do love the bright colors. For this one I used Elegant Edges and cut the large green mat, then I used Birthday Bash for the "happy birthday" and finally Mother's Day Bouquet for the flowers. I added a little bling on the flowers and if you look closely, I added a tag behind the top picture mat. I added a lot of aqua colored ribbon to make it appear like it was part of the party hat! Lori's Garden and the Imagine

I've had my Imagine since the launch in 2010 (well actually I had to send the first one back because it didn't work at all). I haven't used it all that much, but when I do I'm really pleased with the images. I love how it makes the creative process easy!

I have to admit that Lori's Garden is my favorite Imagine cartridge! I know why people are paying over $200.00 for it on E-bay, although a little voice deep down is yelling SELL! LOL

Here's a birthday card I made with the cartridge. I printed and cut the frame, then did the same for the bird. The bird is pop dotted on the page because the wings go through the bird giving it great dimension! I happened to have the pink polka dotted cardstock on my desk. I used the Imagine on the cut only mode and cut one of the shapes that are preloaded onto the Imagine. I then used my trusty Happy Birthday stamp and tucked into the corner of the frame.



All of this was put on green cardstock which was part of The Paper Studio Affinity stack. Oh, and I did stickle the birds tail and wings, as well as some of the flower and the Happy Birthday tag!

Paper Blossoms

On a recent visit to Archiver's I fell in love with the new McGill Paper Blossoms punches. The oriental lily was my favorite! I realized that I didn't need all of the punches, as I could do the underneath "holder" and the stamen with my Cricut (using Joys of the Season and Potpourri Basket), so I just got the petal punch and the tool set, which helps give them a wonderful shape!

I played with it as soon as I got home! I decided to try some black and white flowers, as my niece is getting married in May and her colors are black and white. I made three flowers that just sat on my desk.

I decided to see how they would look on a card, so I pulled out my Black and White paper stack from The Paper Studio and the mat stack of solid colors, also from TPS. This is what I came up with. Another easy birthday card. I rounded the edges (something I usually forget about), used my favorite happy birthday stamp, added some Recollections pearls and a sheer ribbon.

Easy Colorful Birthday Cards

While thumbing through my stacks of paper, I ran across the Birthday Extravaganza stack from The Paper Studio. I decided to do a couple of birthday cards, letting the paper do most of the design work. I did cut out balloons in different colors using my Expression and the Celebrate With A Flourish cartridge. I chose four different colors of solid cardstock from The Paper Studio mat stack that coordinated with the Birthday Extravaganza paper.

On the first one I cut out the words "Happy Birthday" from one of the sheets, layered it onto the striped paper, then put on the balloons (pop dotting the 2nd and 4th ones). I then added a prima flower and within 5 minutes had a quick and easy birthday card!



For the second one, I used three different coordinating papers, the candles, the stripes, and the words. I then added the balloons, pop dotting them the same. Easy peasy!

Birthday card - what else!

I have so much going on today, but I want to keep my goal of posting every day, so I'm going back a few weeks to a birthday card I made.



The photo is a little dark - don't know what I did when I took it, but you get the general idea.
I was asked to make this card for the daughter of a woman that works with my husband. All I was told was that "she likes green". So, with that wealth of information I went about creating this card. LOL



The happy girl is from Beyond Birthdays cart. The present is from Joys of the Season. The background paper is from DCWV Flower Power stack and the aqua glitter paper is from DCWV. The green paper is from the Paper Studio mat stack. I cuttlebugged the present with the spots and dots embossing folder, added some generic green buttons, a green glitter brad in the middle of the girl, and some lime green brads around the sentiment!

Pumpkin Patch

I had to come up with a "make and take" for the open house at JoAnns this weekend. I wanted it to be easy but something everyone would enjoy. This is what I came up with:


I decided to do a picture LO that could be framed in a simple 5 x 7 frame. That way it could still include those that don't scrap.

I used the October 31 cart and designed it on my Gypsy. I cut the green border at 1.29", the pumpkins at 1.70" and the pumpkin patch sign at 2". I also cut a moon, but forgot to put in on the photo.......DUH. It will go in the upper left hand side. It was cut at 2".

The background paper is Heidi Grace designs and all of the solid paper is The Paper Studio mat stack. I did pop dot the pumpkins and sign.

I used a photo of my oldest daughter. She was 3 years old back then. It's one of my favorite pictures.

French Manor and Forever Young birthday card

Another birthday card! September explodes with birthdays for me. This was for a friend in my office building. I used French Manor for the dress form and Forever Young for the hat and shoes. The paisley paper was something I had in my stack. I swear I'm going to get better organized so I know what paper I use!

The form, hat and shoes were cut out of The Paper Studio stack. I inked the edges of all of the cuts and then added some little blue flower shaped crystals to the hat and shoes for a little bling and some ribbon to the waist of the form! The Happy Birthday stamp is from Hero Arts.

Hello Kitty Birthday

This was a quick and really cute card. I cut out Kitty at 3". All of the paper was The Paper Studio solid stack. The flower is a chipboard sticker by K & Company. The stamp is old, but I believe it is Hero Arts.

Inkadinkadoo stamp "My Mother's Dress"

Wow! I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted. I knew I was busy, I just didn't realize how busy until now!

Okay - so today I'll post a card I made with my all time favorite stamp from Inkadinkadoo. It was stamped on plain white cardstock and hand cut. Added a couple of layers of Tim Holtz' distress inks (Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain). After it dried, my daughter blinged it up with her favorite embellishment - STICKLES!



The background paper is gold and silver and is from the Simple Elegance Foiled Paper stack by The Paper Studio. I used a brown and tan solid C'oredinations paper which I cut with my Nestabilities scalloped circles. I added some Liquid Pearls and a gold ribbon, stamped the smaller scallop with my Happy Birthday stamp and there it is.

I did pop dot the dress as well as the Happy Birthday.

I hope you like the finished product. My friend did!

Mother's Day Cards....again

This card was for a friend to give to her daughter. I tried to keep it youthful. I had just purchased the set of shoe stamps - not sure who the maker is. I used my stash of The Paper Studio black and white paper (I LOVE black and white), some ribbon and pearls.





I like the way this card came out. I had the "mom" sticker from K & Company I believe and just loved it. The paper was from Me and My Big Ideas, sheer ribbon from Michael's.


I needed something bright and cheery. I used the Accent Essentials cart to cut out the flowers on DCWV Flower Shop paper. I used the MS punch and some ribbon. Quick, cute card.


I found this paper at JoAnns - It was "mother" quotes. I cut the butterfly from one of the carts - can't remember. Used some sheer Michael's ribbon, pearls on the butterfly - another quick card.



I needed this card for a pastor - I used Mother's Day 2010 cart for the lace background on a deep purple cardstock - DCWV. I then used the Easter cart for the cross on an aqua colored cardstock - Core'dinations. I stickled the cross, added pearls to the corners and pop dotted the cross on top of the lace.



This was a collaborative effort. I made the card from DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack. I used a square punch to cut out the holes and placed the flowers behind the dotted paper to give it a window effect. My daughter, Madeline, suggested I use the MS scalloped punch to make it appear like curtains. I like the way it came out.



Had these stickers - don't remember the brand. Put them all together on the DCWV Mainstreet paper. The circles and dots on the paper are felt and raised, giving the card great texture.
