Memorial Day - remembering

Yesterday I got the Stand and Salute cartridge from Big Lots on sale for $25.00. I have had the clear craft plastic for sometime, not really sure what I was going to use it for. I decided to make a door hanging for the front door. I used red, white and blue striped ribbon and all of the cut outs were from Stand and Salute. We'll keep it up throughout the summer in honor of Memorial Day and July 4th.







This morning my youngest daughter and I went to the local Veterans cemetery and placed this card on a random grave. Actually it was the grave of John Heardon Buckley who served in WWII. We chose this grave because my mother's maiden name was Buckley. The inside says "America thanks you".

85th birthday

My mom needed a card for her friend that is turning 85. I had these flowers and have been wanting to use them. So I thumbed through my paper and found the blue striped, from DCWV Baby Boy stack of all things! The card was cut from Wild Card and I used the Gypsy Wanderings for the Happy Birthday and scroll. I cuttlebugged the card and glue dotted the flower.

Happy Birthday

I got a stack of specialty cardstock from Me & My Big Ideas and in the stack ran across this paper. The brown leaves are flocked or suede and I really liked the colors. I decided to throw on some of the paper flowers I had made - used a brown pearl in the middle and stamped Happy Birthday on a tag cut out by hand.

I explained to Chris that both my nephew and niece were getting married within the next year and that the cart would come in handy; and it already has.

Couple's wedding shower card

My mom needed a card for my nephew's couples wedding shower (her grandson). His bride to be loves daisies so I knew I wanted to include those in the design. I used the sweetheart card to cut out the hearts. I cuttlebugged the larger heart as well as the background. I found the ribbon at Michael's. This is the front:



This is the inside. Now you know why I used the ribbon! I also used the sweetheart cartridge for this.

Birthday invitations

My neighbor's adorable little boy is turning 5 in a couple of weeks. He's having a pajama party, so I used the PPDU cart and some really cute paper from DCWV for the pj's and background paper. The font is from Plantin schoolbook

Quick graduation card

One of my daughter's best friends graduated from college Saturday. I needed something quick and this is what I cam up with. I used the wild card cart for the cap, "oh happy day" and card base. I just cut the back side of the cap card off and then inserted some embroidery floss for a tassel.

Mother's Day Cards....again

This card was for a friend to give to her daughter. I tried to keep it youthful. I had just purchased the set of shoe stamps - not sure who the maker is. I used my stash of The Paper Studio black and white paper (I LOVE black and white), some ribbon and pearls.





I like the way this card came out. I had the "mom" sticker from K & Company I believe and just loved it. The paper was from Me and My Big Ideas, sheer ribbon from Michael's.


I needed something bright and cheery. I used the Accent Essentials cart to cut out the flowers on DCWV Flower Shop paper. I used the MS punch and some ribbon. Quick, cute card.


I found this paper at JoAnns - It was "mother" quotes. I cut the butterfly from one of the carts - can't remember. Used some sheer Michael's ribbon, pearls on the butterfly - another quick card.



I needed this card for a pastor - I used Mother's Day 2010 cart for the lace background on a deep purple cardstock - DCWV. I then used the Easter cart for the cross on an aqua colored cardstock - Core'dinations. I stickled the cross, added pearls to the corners and pop dotted the cross on top of the lace.



This was a collaborative effort. I made the card from DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack. I used a square punch to cut out the holes and placed the flowers behind the dotted paper to give it a window effect. My daughter, Madeline, suggested I use the MS scalloped punch to make it appear like curtains. I like the way it came out.



Had these stickers - don't remember the brand. Put them all together on the DCWV Mainstreet paper. The circles and dots on the paper are felt and raised, giving the card great texture.

More Mother's Day Cards

For the past two weeks I've been making Mother's Day cards for friends and family. Here is a sample:







I used the Forever Young cartridge for the mirror, shoes and purse. I then used a metal sheet by QuicKutz for the glass in the mirror. This card was for a friend to give to her sister so I wanted to keep it young feeling. The paper was AC patterned paper "Metropolitan"

A friend needed simple cards to send his sisters. I Cuttlebugged t he paper and used stickers and ribbon for two quick cards.

This card was for a pastor. I had the bird and birdcage from a Tim Hotlz demo at our local Archivers.

I had made a similar card with the silhouette and was asked to make another by someone who had seen the first one. You can find the original further down in my blog. I used the Heritage cartridge and a rose sticker.
